Instagram Close Friends Feature – Instagram is not one of those social media apps that are not strong on privacy while posting. When you post, all of your followers can interact with it. Whether it was a normal post or an Instagram story unless you blocked a follower.
The close friend feature allows Instagram users to select a group of friends or followers on Instagram to share private Instagram stories with. Instead of the usual, every follower can see Instagram story, this one can only be accessed by the followers in your close friend list.

With this feature, you can choose who to share certain Instagram stories with. This would do well for businesses on Instagram, family members, close friends, or people who hate the public lifestyle Instagram offers.
Now, you can privatize or share sensitive information or data with the people it matters to most on Instagram. Just like the regular Instagram story, it would be automatically deleted after 24 hours.
The only difference is it won’t be visible to followers not on your close friend list. Furthermore, instead of the pink-colored ring on an Instagram account that just updated its Instagram story, this will have a green-colored ring on it.
How to Create a Close Friends List In Instagram
- Open the Instagram app and sign in to your account.
- Tap on the profile icon at the bottom right corner.
- Next, tap on the three lines icon at the top right corner of your profile’s page.
- Tap on “Close Friends”. Then proceed to select the people you want to be added to your Instagram close friends list by hitting on the “Add” button. Use the search tab to find a friend you’d like to add quickly.
- Once you are finished, tap on “Done” to complete the process.
How to Share an Instagram Story with Your Close Friends List
Once you are signed in to your account in the Instagram app. It’s very simple; Go on to create the Instagram story by tapping on the camera icon in the top left corner of your homepage’s screen.
Create the Instagram story by taking a photo, video or uploading one from your gallery and edit it to your taste of perfection. Once you are ready to post, tap the “Close Friends” option in the bottom left corner.
Note that you can edit your Instagram close friend list by removing or adding any followers on Instagram. Such followers won’t be notified by Instagram of your actions.
