Muting people on social media is the best idea you could come up with as blocking might not be such a good one. How to mute people on social media platforms is one of the best questions anyone could ask given how annoying and creepy people could be on social media these days.
So here is how to mute people on various social media platforms easily and speedily.
Muting People On Various Social Media Platforms
Let’s begin with the most popular social media platform;
There are lots of ways to mute people on Facebook. You could mute their posts when you come across them which would be convenient or unfollow the account.
Go to your Facebook account and locate the post or profile of the person you want to mute. On the posts, tap on the three dots just on the upper right corner of the post and select “Snooze for 30 days” or “Hide Post”.
On the person’s profile, tap on the “Person Icon With a Mark” next to “Message” and select “Unfollow” from the pop-up menu. You can also bulk unfollow people by going to “Settings & Privacy”> “Settings” in the Facebook hamburger menu.
Then select “News Feed Preferences”> “Unfollow People to Hide their Posts” and then proceed to select the people you’d like to mute.
Facebook Messenger
Open the Facebook messenger app on your device or access messenger through Facebook.
- Locate the chat or conversation you want to mute.
- Swipe to the left on the conversation or Facebook Messenger handle.
- Click on the Bell icon.
- Then choose how long the muting should last. Personally, I’d choose “Until I turn it back on”.
It’s almost the same process as Messenger. Open WhatsApp on your device.
- Locate the chat or conversation you want to mute.
- Hold a press on the chat or WhatsApp handle.
- Tap on the “Mute” icon at the top. The mute icon is a speaker icon with a line drawn across it.
- Choose how long you’d like to keep the conversation muted.
- Specify if you’d like to receive notifications from the conversation.
