Facebook, as we all know, is one of the best platforms we have for digital friendship in our social world today not just that, the giant network is also a place where we connect with friends, families and loved ones.
But, let’s face it, we all have one friend, family or classmate that’s always popping up on our timeline with their posts coming in tens, every now and then. Facebook is aware of this too, which is why features have been put in place to ensure users could have more control of what shows up on their newsfeed, bringing us to our hot topic- how to ignore people on Facebook, which we shall be discussing in detail.
Ignoring And Blocking Or Unfollowing
It’s rather polite to ignore or find a way to evade or make sure these annoying posts do not disturb or make social media applications frustrating to use.
Different social media platforms have also taken this up to help users take charge of what appears on their timeline, the likes of Whatsapp, Messenger, etc. These people are our friends, right? So we wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings by unfollowing them imperatively on Facebook, which is why there are flexible and not-so-harsh approaches to achieve your peace and quiet on Facebook, rather than going all red on them. Some of these methods we shall be sharing in the next session below.
Some Ways To Ignore People On Facebook
Like I stated earlier, there are ways on how to ignore people on Facebook without having to cause any bad blood between both parties. Let’s get down to these methods, shall we?
-
Turn On Your Tag Review
This feature will help keep you away from any inclusion from unnecessary tags, this way, you can be sure that when this particular friend of yours tags you on his/her post, you wouldn’t be bothered, and here’s how you go about it :
- Click on the inverted arrow on the top right corner of your news feed.
- Select settings, and then click on “timeline and tagging”.
- Navigate to the top right panel and click on “review posts you’re tagged in before it appears on your timeline”, select Edit, and then Enable.
- You can also follow the same steps for “review tags that people add to your posts before the tags appear on your timeline”.
After doing this, people will only see your tagged photos upon your approval only.
-
Unfollow Them
Yes, you can actually unfollow them and you’ll still be friends with them on Facebook, but, the catch is that you’ll never have to see any of their posts again unless you decide to follow them later. You can unfollow friends by following the steps below:
- Visit the friend of interest’s profile and click on the “following” button
- Click on unfollow, and that’s it! No more posts and updates from this person.
These actions are reversible, otherwise it’s almost as harsh as unfriending them from Facebook completely. Just follow the steps above again just this time, do the opposite of the necessary action and you should be able to see their posts again.
