How to see saved passwords on Mac chrome is one of those questions I have gotten tired of answering with spoken words. Guess it never sinks in, here is a little guide to put you through.
Passwords saved on the Chrome browser happens as a result of two actions you might have taken on the web browser. Either you agreed to Chrome’s prompt to save your password to one of your accounts while you tried to log in or you signed in a Google account on the Chrome browser that has your passwords saved to itself.
That Google account will have to be the Chrome browser default account. That way all passwords will be saved to that Google account provided you agree to the prompts to.
Ordinarily, if you don’t sign in a Google account to the Chrome browser, it will automatically save any Google account you signed in. To find out more, keep reading.
Sign In to Chrome
The first thing you want to do is to open the Chrome browser on your Mac device. Then locate and click on the “Lettered or Profile” icon at the top right corner of the browser’s page.
Next, tap on “Sign In to Chrome” if there is no Google account already signed in. Tap on “Other People” then proceed to add another Google account if you wish to sign in a different Google account.
Type in your email address, tap on “Next”. Then input its password and hit the “Next” button, therefore, signing in to Chrome with that Google account. Finalize the process and close that page.
How to See Saved Passwords On Mac Chrome
Now, you’ve signed in, let’s find your saved passwords.
- Tap on the three dots menu on the tab at the top right corner.
- On the drop-down menu, select “Settings”.
- On the new page, click on “Advanced”.
- Next page, keep scrolling until you find the “Passwords and Forms” tab, under this tab, select “Manage Passwords”.
- Hit the three dots next to any username of your choice and click on “Details” from the drop-down menu that appears.
- The next page will contain all the necessary info about the account you choose including its password which will be hidden. Click on the “Eye” icon to reveal the password.
- If your Mac device has any security setting, input your device passcode or password and retrieve the password. If not merely clicking on the “Eye” icon should reveal the password.
This is a very simple trick I use a lot of times especially when I am not within reach of my device. Firstly, I sign in the Google account to a device that I currently have access to. That Google account must be one in which your passwords are saved to.
Then I follow the steps above to retrieve any password I need. Using this trick means you have to delete the Google account you signed in after you’ve retrieved the password(s) you want to.
