The first thing you need to know about this movie is it stars two of the hottest actors in the Hollywood movie industry speaking of Chris Evans (Captain America) and Ryan Gosling (Blade Runner 2049). Also, it’s being directed by the Russo brothers who also directed Avengers: Endgame in conjunction with Netflix.
That’s should be enough to keep you reading. This movie is based on the series book, The Gray Man written by Mark Greaney. This movie is a rare action movie classic as it tails the Gray-man, a CIA agent turned assassin being tracked by a fellow CIA agent.
Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) is a dangerous freelance assassin who was a former CIA operative and an associate of Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) who is now hunting him around the world. This is going to be funnnn.!!!!!
The Gray Man
This novel is one of the best action series ever. Its first book was published in 2009 and its pages are glorious.
It tells the story of Gentry, an infamous assassin on a mission to rescue his guardian, Sir Donald Fitzroy, and his family in France from Lloyd. Lloyd who is a member of a large English establishment wants Gentry dead because he is looking to claim a massive Nigerian deal amongst other reasons.
It would seem Gentry did something very bad to the President of Nigeria. An action that can’t be forgiven.
What the Movie Holds For the Public?
Joe Russo reportedly said that this movie was going to be more like a franchise revolving around Ryan Gosling as Court Gentry. They plan to put in a lot of effort in the first movie. Furthermore, he explained that this might just be a stepping stone to create a Gray Man movie franchise.
That sounds absolutely cool not to talk of the fact that Netflix is partnering with the same directors of marvel’s greatest hit movie; the avengers on this one.
Russo brothers also worked on “Extraction” with Chris Hemsworth who also featured in the “Avengers” movies alongside Chris Evans.
Anthony Russo in a statement to Deadline described the movie as “A real mano a mano between those two great actors who represent two different versions of the CIA in what it can be and what it can do”.
The storyline sounds like Gentry is a former CIA operative who was betrayed and then haunted by his former employers. The plot gets more interesting when Lloyd Hansen, a CIA agent just as good and dangerous as Gentry is tasked with tracking and eliminating Gentry.
It seems so complicated. To an extent, you can’t really point out the villain in this upcoming box office hit. Although Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) is said to be the movie’s long term franchise star.
When Will This Movie Be Released?
A lot of action movies have been released by Netflix recently and they’ve been thrilling. From Tripple Frontier to Six Underground, Extraction and not to talk of The Old Guard. Netflix has really been doing well with action movies.
Netflix without doubt has seen an increase in the number of subscribers of its services. Probably due to the pandemic and the effect it has had on people. That explains Netflix’s $200 million budget for The Gray Man movie.
The Gray Man movie production is set to start Next year, precisely January 2021. But this date could be sooner or later. Especially when you put different variables in place especially with the pandemic at hand.
It’s speculated production date narrows down its release date to the middle of the year that follows.
